2. Is the New Age movement anti-Christian?
Many New Age ideas are honourable and are not opposed to Christian belief. Christians too respect values such as the primacy of the spiritual, the integration of body and soul, the need to preserve our environment, openness to treasures in all spiritual traditions, and so on. In that sense there are New Agers who are Christians and Christians who feel at home in the "New Age". However, extreme New Age ideas are not compatible with Christianity.
In fact, the New Age is claimed by some to be the era of Aquarius, the Water Carrier, which comes after the era of Piscis, the Fish (symbol of Christianity). Although such New Age practitioners copy much from their Christian heritage, they often reject Christianity as narrow and outdated.
3. Can we rely on New Age claims?
No, often we cannot. Much New Age religion goes over the top. It thrives on false claims. It has been characterised as dealing in counterfeit currency:
